I was watching Tiger’s Masters after round interview in which he mentioned something about a “pin sheet”. I’m assuming this is information on pin locations for the entire course on that day. This got me to thinking. Would it be possible for this feature to be implemented into the game somehow? I invision a 3D grid of the green showing the pin placement for that round. This would be useful for the player in his decision to go for the pin or play for the fat of the green and/or slopes of the green that potentially could feed the ball towards the hole.

This could become tidious work for programmers as there are hundreds of greens within the game and even more possible pin placements. I just thought this would be a very cool idea. This could also be in a “caddie advice section” for each hole.

Awaiting June 8th for the release of TW11. Ryder Cup teams appears to be an awesome feature.

Well you can pretty much get this effect by zooming in. I think the easier solution would be to just provide a green grid viewable on approach shots, so you could scan the slopes and plan your strategy.

Great idea No Chin, that never even dawned on me (DOH!). I believe I heard this somewhere before. TW11 will show your ball lie in a 3D grid on every shot (ie: sidehill, uphill, downhill) as in the version for TW online. Will the approach view of the green just show the area around the cup or the entire green?

EA has done a remarkable job improving this game every year and this website of yours NCD is a valuable tool for all of us. So on behalf of all the weekend duffers out there, I would like to thank you for all your time and dedication that you put into this site so the plethora of others can enjoy the game.

    Well done sir.

Well thank you ;) I don’t believe there is any approach grid in TW11. When you set up your approach, you’ll just see your aiming circle as usual. You can still use the aiming circle to some extent to detect slope patterns in the green, but it’s obiviously not as good as a complete grid. I know in the Xbox/PS3 versions of the game, you can actually zoom in further with the control stick during your aim zooming to actually take a look at the green from ground level and kind of “walk” the green before you take your shot. I don’t think this feature is available in the Wii version, however.

Wii Wii Wii, where’s the real console versions? ;)

Anyway, about EA’s charging $10 for online play if you buy a pre-owned copy… as per it’s continuing advances with the “$10 Scheme” they are using.
    Is anyone bothered about this?

  6. NoChinDeluxeon 13 May 2010 at 9:07 pm link comment

I think this $10 fee is a good business decision by EA. It makes sense on a lot of levels and will keep banned players from creating new accounts to get back in the game and continue cheating, etc. I also don’t find it too offensive, considering it’s a one-time fee and Xbox players are paying monthly fees just to keep their connection going.

Remember that you’ll still get the free code even if you buy the game new after the price has been reduced. So if you want to wait and hear about the game before you buy it, you may be able to pick it up for around $30 and still get the free code with the game.

Is there a place I can send feedback about things I’d like to see added to future versions? Such as:

I would love to see a full leader board between holes.

I’d like to have the option of where the computer golfers would shoot better or worse depending on how I am playing, or not have them do better or worse just play based on their skills.

Or maybe different clubs do have different attributes outside of amount of bonuses awarded, whereas one may drive a little further, another may have a bigger sweetspot, etc.

Does anyone else feel this way about these types of things or similar type changes, or am I just a crazy one? :) I am so hooked on this game now!

  8. NoChinDeluxeon 25 May 2010 at 3:23 pm link comment

Well I can give you some quick answers to those three requests. The first one about the full leaderboard, that one has been requested a lot, but I still don’t think it’s been implemented in TW11.

The second one you mentioned is known as “rubber band AI.” This has actually been fixed for TW11 and now the computer players just play based on their own skill and not on yours.

For the third one, EA can’t really do anything about this one. They have many brands represented in the game, and they really can’t make one driver better than another. It would be disrespectful to the companies who offered their products and branding for the game, and would suggest that one brand is better than the other.

If you want to suggest new features, the best place to do it is in the Tiger Woods PGA Tour Wii EA Forums, located here: http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/forums/show/554.page

The Wii developers read those forums and get many of their ideas for new features from reading what the players have to say.

So, I got to play online for the first timelast night on TW2010, and I was extremely dissappointed, so much so, I don’t think I ever want to play online again. So I was hoping changes are being made for TW2011.

Here’s what happened, I played against my brother, he at his house and me at mine. But we both thought we’d be able to see the other person take each shot, but instead, we both shoot at the same time and since each shot has only 30 seconds, it is tough to even rotate around to see his ball path go anywhere. Ideally what I’d like to see is:

    1) No timer. I can understand the need for a timer during a tournament or against random people, but when I’m playing against my brother (or other friends) we should have the option for the timer or not.
    2) The same as playing offline, where I take my shot, then get to watch the next person take their shot, furthest away goes next, etc. right now we play simultaneously and it’s not fun at all.
    3) I’d like to see the other person’s character. For instance, my brother created himself and I wanted to see how good a job he did and be able to view his character. We thought we’d be able to to during play.

Has anyone else ever asked for these things? Are these completely out of the question? Are there options to set for this somewhere on TW2010, or will things be different on TW2011?

  10. Chris32on 01 Jun 2010 at 9:35 am link comment

So, I’ve been trying to find more information about this, and it just says Simultaneous play. That is so lousy. For instance, when I play Mario Kart Wii online, I get to see other people driving around, not just a colored path of where they are. Is there a non-simultaneous play, just a turn by turn play? I’m going to keep googling to try and find more information. Thanks.

TW11 will be the same. You won’t be able to see the other golfer. Many players have asked for this, but it isn’t coming in TW11.

What would be your top 5 or 10 things to do to first in TW 11. I would like to build up my player as soon as I can.

    Thanks Jerry

    Can’t wait till Tuesday

Hey Jerry, I actually just wrote up a profile building article for TW11. It will be posted later tonight. I also made some videos of TW11 to show you guys some of the new swing modes, etc. Again, check back later tonight and I’ll have that stuff posted.

Played my first online head to head match and I must say it sucked. That timer is an absolute killer. 3 penalty strokes for slow play and several rushed (poor) shots. Any tips for streamlining the shot set-up process?

  15. NoChinDeluxeon 05 Jul 2010 at 8:13 pm link comment

Sure! When the hole comes up, let the commentary play out so you can watch the flyover and get an idea of how you want to plan your tee shot. This doesn’t use up your shot clock time, so it’s a free moment to take a look at the hole and figure out how you’re going to play it. Then when the timer kicks in, double click A as soon as possible to zoom out to your target area. Those are the only time saving tips I know. The rest just comes with experience and knowing how to play certain wind and elevation scenarios.

My wife and I made the mistake of trying to play “The Predator” course. This is only our second year for Tiger Woods PGA and we never realized the game had fantasy courses. Maybe they should call it “the course from h*ll”? Trying to deal with that course as the real deal and for the first time, big mistake! I think I’ll try another time but with “all-play” turned on.

    NCD;

Can you explain the difference between a ball lie of say 76-82%, when it is solid white and when it flashes white to red?

I also notice sometimes, you can have it solid white but up clubbing will cause the flashing red.

I gather the flashing red is a bad thing but how to adjust for it?

  18. NoChinDeluxeon 08 Aug 2010 at 1:09 pm link comment

I have no idea what you are talking about, haha. I’ve never had flashing red! I’m guessing it means whatever club you are trying to use just won’t work…like trying to use a 3W out of a really bad lie. But I’ve never seen flashing red…what is flashing, the little ball graphic where the lie indicator is?

  19. Nuke12on 08 Aug 2010 at 3:33 pm link comment

In my example above, the numbers 76-82% change from white to red and so on and so on.

I see the same flashing on the green, in the rain, when it flashes the 60%.

So you’ve never seen this? lol

  20. Nuke12on 08 Aug 2010 at 5:04 pm link comment

    Oh, in reply to this;

“I’m guessing it means whatever club you are trying to use just won’t work.”

In some cases, I get the flashing red, no matter what club is selected.

  21. NoChinDeluxeon 09 Aug 2010 at 5:33 am link comment

Oh, ok I see what you mean. I think that is just warning you that you have an exceptionally poor lie. I don’t think it affects your shot in any special way…just play the lie according to the percentage.

  22. Nuke12on 11 Aug 2010 at 7:30 am link comment

Still makes me wonder what is the difference between a solid white 76-82% and a flashing red 76-82%. It seems they are trying to say something is different but for the life of me, I don’t see it.

In regards to the Sponsorships you can earn, is there any difference in the playability of the pro shop items? I read higher up that the clubs really don’t act any different but what about the shafts and golf balls?

For example, Grafalloy has 3 shafts (Graphite Wood 5.0, 6.0, and 7.0) and all cost different amounts. However, the sponsorship bonus is the same. Is there any difference in them or should I pick most of my equipment based on how large the bonus per round is?
