NoChinDeluxe vs Soonersguy06

Here’s my newest video, which is a match between Soonersguy06 and myself. He put out a challenge to play me on the EA Forums, and I was happy to oblige. I let him pick the settings, and he picked some doozies! I’m not used to playing in the rain with gale force winds, and so it was definitely a challenge! It was a good game, and I enjoyed it. Soonersguy06 played well, and I want to say thanks to him for allowing me to post the video. This is also my first video with real-time commentary, so you’ll have to let me know what you think about that as well. Enjoy!

You can watch the full video by clicking the following link. I would recommend using Internet Explorer or Safari to view the video, as I’ve been having some trouble getting it to work with Firefox. Here’s the link:

Great match! I watched the whole thing thru!!! I would have rather seen an advanced match, though :-) ….No Chin, I’d love to play you @ St. Andrews…that’s my favorite course….

Let me know if we can set that up….with Advanced Swing and Putting, of course, but we can play with the putt meter and information….none of the that “extreme condition” stuff!

OK (very newb question). I understand this for long irons but how does this apply for wedges etc. I tried applying the idea (i.e. the maths and yard deduction/additon) for wedges and obviously came up way short; is it even possible..

Hey Danny, I’ve got a video tutorial explaining how to do the calculations for wedge shots. Here’s the link:

Just came accross your site and watched this. Man you rock! The long game in those gales OK – extremely difficult, but once you take the putter into hands you’re lethal.

Thinking more about those winds, the man who can read and roll the ball like you … have you tried punch shots rather than full shots? With quick fairways and quick greens (even in wet conditions) I’m sure you could shoot for more predictable results. I’m nowhere near your league. But with very strong wind against or from side, a punch shot will take some distance off but is low, penetrating, start rolling long and much earlier … much easier form me to predict. What do you think? Have you tried and abandoned for some reason?

I’m still mezmorized by your putter. I’m playing precision putting, no meter or preview – once it has a bit more severe break or is above 35-40 feet I do struggle to hole it. So what’s your secret about sinking those monster puts on wet greens like that? Just knowledge of the greens? And talent. ;-)

Thanks for the kind words on my putting. I haven’t messed much with punch shots. I know some people who use them the way you describe, so that’s great advice! I just always remained confident in my full shots and loft game, so I never really used punch shots much. I might give them a try though based on your recommendation ;)

Great video NoChin! Enjoyed it a lot. Glad i came across this site.

Is there any chance of getting an Xbox 360 video up here from someone? I would love to see someone of your skill level work through their shots on a 360. (i may be able to in 6 months ;) )

I would love to! I don’t have an Xbox, unfortunately. I’ve played the game on a friend’s Xbox and enjoyed it very much. One of these days I’ll break down and get one!
