Quick Tip for Getting More Accurate Results with Precision Putting

This is a super quick tip that’s easy to implement, but you may find it saving you strokes! When you are lining up your putt, make sure you move your distance marker to the actual percentage point you are attempting to hit. In other words, say you line up for a 25% putt, but after putt preview, you notice you have to add a few power percentage points to make it up the hill. Well, instead of planning to just hit your power meter at a little above the 25% mark, actually move your distance marker up to your desired percentage. Why? Continue Reading »

Club Tuning 101

This is an excellent article written by TheJokker on the advantages of club tuning and how to actually do it right. He originally posted it on the EA Forums. You can find the original post by clicking here. Club tuning will add valuable distance and control to your shots, and will reduce your hooks and slices when using the MotionPlus attachment. It’s well worth the effort, and I highly suggest using TheJokker’s guidelines for club tuning.

Tuning your clubs is very important to improve the quality of your game. After reading what little the TW10 book mentioned about club tuning, I was originally nervous to adjust these settings. There is no need to fear adjusting these settings when you understand what they do and how adjustments will affect your shot. Everyone will most likely tune they’re clubs a little differently than other players. When you tune your clubs you are fine tuning all the clubs in your bag to how you want them to perform. Tuning your clubs will add power, loft (height), spin, workability and adjust your draw or fade. Those are the 5 simple aspects of tuning your clubs, it is NOT rocket science. Continue Reading »

Driving the Ball 100% in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2010

One of the differences between this year’s game and the last becomes glaringly obvious when you tee up for the first time. If you’re using the MotionPlus attachment, it’s no longer easy to hit full power tee shots; and what’s this, I can actually slice the ball now!?!? (I thought video games were a way of escaping real life…oh well) One of our first snap reactions to seeing a drive come off at something like an 88% is to, you’ve guessed it, swing harder. But to just swing your brains out is to miss the point of the new MotionPlus. Even the Wii remote by itself detected our swing force in TW09. The new sensors require finesse and gentle coaxing, and maybe even a pep talk or two. Understanding how the MotionPlus works and how it relates to your swing is key to getting a full power shot going.  Continue Reading »

The Quick and Dirty Review: What Us Real Gamers Want to Know About TW10

It’s no surprise that the forums are filling up quickly with questions from eager players and answers in the forms of impromptu reviews and progress reports. I love it! The gaming sites are also coming around with their official reviews. Everything is looking pretty positive so far. So I wanted to add to the mix, not with a “I like this” or “I like that” approach, and not quite a “Here’s every single feature of the game laid out for you” approach either, but just a simple sampling of the stuff I think competitive gamers will care about most. Read on to get the highlights from my experiences so far… Continue Reading »

Happy Release Day!

Happy release day, everyone. Along with many other players, I’ll be getting my hands on a copy of the game tomorrow,  June 9th, since we must allow time for shipping to our various pre-order pickup locations. I just wanted to let everyone know that I’m planning on having an official “first impressions” review up here tomorrow night, after I get a chance to dabble in the mysteries that lie within TW10. While I’m sure many of you will forgo your usual internet activity for a chance to play your new game, I realize that many players are waiting to hear about the new game before they throw down their money. Also, we must be sensitive (but not too sensitive) to our European players who will not receive their games for a few more weeks. So, when your eyes start to hurt, take a break from playing and come comment here and let the community know what you think of the new game. I’m hoping to have a nice collection of constructive criticism listed under my review so that I can post a link to the EA Forums and have a place for players to find real info from the front lines.  Get excited!

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2010 is Almost Here!

Are you ready? The online forums are abuzz with chatter about the new game now that we are down to only a few days of waiting. I still remain cautious, however. Many players are treating the new game (which they haven’t even played yet) as the best thing since the assited hole-out. And while some players have actually gotten a hands-on experience with the game and confirmed that it is, in fact, pretty dang sweet, I choose to maintain a “I’ll believe it when I see it” attitude.
